OPTIMAL APPLICATION AND FUNCTIONS
Automation of forensic examinations of different types:
- capture and processing of any graphic images
- comparative examinations of images
- enhancement of latent print images (of poor quality, contaminated or overlapping) before entering them into the PAPILLON AFIS database
- preparation and printing of examination reports and charts
The RASTR system is recommended for use at criminal investigation departments of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, as an advanced instrumental and analytical base for trace, fingerprint and other types of forensic examinations («Resolution of the Criminal Expertize Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” dated December 08, 2004).

Non-destructive transformations of digital images in order to enhance and make undistinguishable details identifiable:
Image examinations, including comparative study, with mandatory saving of the original image and the history of its modification:
Creation of reports on examination results using original and processed images, and printing of examination worksheets:
PRODUCT INTERACTION
RASTR works with images that can be acquired with classic tools (digital camera, flatbed scanner, webcam), as well as with images acquired with specialized PAPILLON products:

- FoBox – Shoeprint and tire marks photography kit
Enhanced images can be printed or saved to graphic format files for further use in specialized systems:

Resultant images processed with the RASTR tools can be:
- exported to BMP, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, WSQ files
- copied to the clipboard for use in graphical and text editors
- used to create illustrations and charts in RASTR
- printed on a high resolution printer

- Detection of counterfeit money, documents, seals – CMYK channel separation tools detect «yellow» marks left by color laser printers
